Picosecond precision, engineered in France.

Greenfield Technology is an independent company in France near Bordeaux. A team that designs, builds, calibrates and services every instrument under one roof — and stands behind it for the long life these systems are built to run.
Who we are?
We build the timing instruments that let the world's most demanding experiments agree on when.
Founded in 2001 near Bordeaux, Greenfield Technology designs and manufactures picosecond timing systems, delay generators, digitizers, time interval meter, modules and signal generator — from a single channel to a facility-wide synchronization backbone.

The same people who design an instrument test it, calibrate it and pick up the phone years later — with no third party in between. That proximity, and a refusal to compromise on precision, is why laboratories and primes across three continents trust our hardware to run for years.

Our Story

A quarter century, one discipline.

Greenfield has grown slowly and on purpose — each step deeper into picosecond timing rather than wider. A few dates below are marked for your validation before we publish.
  • Greenfield Technology is founded

A handful of engineers set up near Bordeaux on one conviction: precision timing instrumentation deserves an independent, specialist maker. The first delay generators and time-interval meters follow.
  • The catalog takes shape

The families broaden from delay generation into digitizing, signal synthesis and pulse shaping
the foundation of today's six-family catalog.

  • Synchronization backbone for the Laser Mégajoule

Greenfield's picosecond timing platform is deployed to coordinate hundreds of beams to within a few picoseconds across the CEA's Laser Mégajoule. The system is still in continuous service.
  • Across the Atlantic

A sister synchronization system is deployed in the United States, extending the platform to North-American programs.

  • Into quantum

Picosecond-grade trigger and clock distribution find a new home in emerging quantum-technology platforms, alongside R&D laboratories and defense programs.

  • Today

Six product families, more than forty references — instruments engineered, built, calibrated and serviced from France, and trusted on three continents.

Our Team

A team with deep expertise.

We stay small so expertise stays deep. Four disciplines meet on every instrument — and the person who designed it is the person who calibrates and supports it.
  • Dominique

"We started Greenfield to prove that picosecond precision could come from a small, independent team that answers for its own work — from the first sketch to the instrument still running twenty years later."
  • Dominique

"Everything is designed, built and calibrated under one roof in Toulouse. That's not nostalgia — it's how you keep the numbers honest and the support real."

  • Electronics

Analog and digital design for timing, delay and acquisition — from the signal path to the finished instrument.

    Optics

Optical instrumentation and links, streak and CCD camera integration for the most demanding measurements.

    Embedded software

Firmware, drivers and control, with Python, LabVIEW, Tango and EPICS integration built in.

    Metrology

Traceable calibration, ATE benches, verification and repair — the discipline that makes the datasheet true.
  • Made in France

Independent, and built under one roof.

No outsourced engineering, no anonymous support desk. From the first design decision to the calibration certificate, your instrument stays with the people who make it.
